如何以高效、有效且安全的冷卻系統(tǒng)消除服務(wù)器散發(fā)的廢熱，在數(shù)據(jù)中心基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施設(shè)計過程中越來越引起人們的關(guān)注。多數(shù)數(shù)據(jù)中心設(shè)施都采用大型空調(diào)系統(tǒng)和大量的循環(huán)空氣消除廢熱。但是以制冷空氣冷卻服務(wù)器的方法成本高、效率低。很多時候，電費是數(shù)據(jù)中心的大運行開支。此外，計算機服務(wù)器運行更快，數(shù)據(jù)中心機架密度更高，想通過氣流實現(xiàn)有效冷卻變得不太現(xiàn)實。
